Guitar Classes
Beginning Guitar 1
This class is designed for students who are new to the guitar and have no prior knowledge or experience. The following elements will be covered: holding and tuning the guitar, playing notes on the first three strings, identifying and reading the notes (in time) of the first three strings on the treble-clef staff. Basic music theory will be covered. Class fee includes the use of a house guitar for the duration of the class. A guitar tuner is strongly recommended. Instructor: Mike Keeney

Guitar 2
Guitar 2 picks up where Beginning Guitar 1 left off. Students will learn to play notes on all six strings. Students should continue to enroll in Beginning Guitar 2 until they are comfortable identifying, playing and reading notes (in time) on all six strings on the treble-clef staff. A guitar tuner is strongly recommended. Instructor: Mike Keeney

Guitar Performance
This group class is perfect for young guitar students with 1-2 years’ experience. Students will learn how to jam together on familiar songs in the style of rock, pop, and blues. Basic chord chart reading will be covered, as well as soloing opportunities for interested students. Students who know eight basic guitar chords and power chords are eligible and ready for this class. Acoustic and electric guitars are both accepted and amps will be provided. Instructor: Mike Keeney.

Rock Guitar Styles (Ages 16-18)
For the advancing electric guitarist with two or more years experience. Class will focus on rock guitar styles and riffs. Students will learn lead guitar techniques including melody lines, fill passages and solos. Instructor: Anton Hatwich.
(Wednesdays, 2:00 - 3:00p, June 16 - August 18) $200
Adult Beginning Guitar
Class will focus on holding and tuning the guitar, playing notes on the first three strings, identifying and reading the notes (in time) of the first three strings on the treble-clef staff. Music fundamentals, universal musical terms and basic music theory will be covered. Class fee includes the use of a house guitar for the duration of the class. A guitar tuner is strongly recommended. Adult Guitar Jam
Adults 18 and over have the opportunity to get together with others and jam in a group setting. Each week will explore a new approach to concepts in blues, country and rock. Special emphasis is placed on improvisation in each style. Many classes will learn while playing with live bass and drums. Students should have a strong working knowledge of notation, rhythm and syncopation. Instructor Mike Keeney will lead the class in learning a new tune each week.

Folk Music Classes
Ukelele Mania (Ages 7-9)
The perfect instrument for for little hands, the ukelele is a great precursor to the guitar. This class will introduce the ukelele to young students and will cover notes on all four strings, simple melodies and chords for beginning songs. Instructor Jonny Untch will lead the class in learning fun songs in the folk style.
(Saturdays, 3:00 - 4:00p, June 19 - August 21) $220 (Includes a brand new ukelele to keep!)
Beginning Banjo For Adults
This class is for the beginning banjo player. The class will cover right and left hand techniques, including chords and melody, in the traditional bluegrass style. As the class progresses, we will further explore three-finger roll patterns, chord/accompaniment, tuning, and song structure for bluegrass banjo enthusiasts. Students must provide their own banjo. Instructor: Jonny Untch

Camps
All camps meet Monday through Friday on the specific dates listed from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Each camp will be offered several times during the summer. Choose between the dates listed below, or sign up for both! Camps are open to guitar, bass, piano, drums and voice students. Campers should bring lunches Monday through Thursday. Pizza will be provided on the final day of camp. Camp fee of $299 includes drinks and snacks.
TMR School of Rock (Ages 12-15)
Ages 12-15. Learn to play in a live band! Five intensive days of practice in a group setting lead up to an amazing performance. Instructor Mike Keeney will guide the young rockers on an epic journey of self-discovery. Participants will experience the thrill of being in a band while learning how to arrange and produce a well-rounded rock show. The group will draw from a wide variety of genres. Starting from scratch, they learn an entire song and develop it to their maximum potential. Methods of improvisation and embellishment are explored as well. The final class will have a performance for the general public. Gain confidence through experience! Campers are expected to know how to play at least two songs on their instrument to participate. Camps will be offered the following weeks:

Jam Hounds (Ages 9-11)
For those with little to no experience playing in a band. Campers will learn the basics of jamming with others through simple songs and riffs. The group will mainly delve into the basics of blues and rock styles. Instructor Mike Keeney will help participants begin to develop their confidence playing with others. Each day will explore a new stylistic concept while teaching the kids how to develop their listening. Solos and improvisation are explored as well. This class is a precursor to School of Rock and is open to all levels of ability. Camps will be offered the following weeks:

Garage Band (Ages 9-12)
Record your first CD!! Class participants will collaborate to record an all original project using the Garage Band software. Studio magic is achieved through combining the student's talent with special effects and loops. Instructor Mike Keeney will show campers how to use the software through a collaborative project of original compositions. Everything down to the cover art will be designed by the students. Inspiration is just around the corner. Any instrumentalist can join regardless of experience! Learn how to build original songs from simple riffs into a full length CD!

Jazz Bands & Classes
Jazz Improv Basics for Saxes, Trumpets & Trombones
Explore beginning jazz techniques and learn how to improvise! This class will take students with some jazz experience to a deeper level of learning by focusing on techniques of improvisation. Any sax, trumpet or trombone student with two years concert band experience may enroll. Students should have a comfortable command of their instrument.
(Mondays, 2:30 - 3:30p, June 14 - August 16) $200
Brockway Street Jazz Band
This is a beginning jazz band for the young musician who has two years experience playing in concert band. Students with little or no jazz band experience will explore basic skills effectively presented through jazz education materials. Instrumentation includes trumpets, trombones, saxes (alto, tenor and bari), full rhythm section (piano, bass, guitar and drums). No audition necessary, but there is only one chair per part so enrollment is on a first come, first served basis.
(Fridays, 2:00 - 3:00p, June 18 - August 20) $200
TMR Jazz Combo
This performing jazz ensemble is for advanced students who are continuing to refine their jazz skills. The Advanced Jazz Combo incorporates more difficult literature and advanced approaches to improvisation and soloing within the ensemble. Instrumentation includes: trumpets, trombones, saxes (alto, tenor and bari) and full rhythm section consisting of piano, bass, guitar and drums. Instructor: Ian Robinson.
