Jennifer Rossetti
Piano, Voice
Originally from Neenah, Wisconsin, Jennifer Rossetti's musical career began at the age of four with studies in piano and violin. As she matured, she pursued her first vocal studies with Patrice Michaels at the Conservatory of Music of Lawrence University.
She has recently completed a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Michigan School of Music with Carmen Pelton. Upon entering her studied, she was awarded a merit scholarship and performed the role of Coloratura Soprano/Lady with a hand mirror in Dominick Argento's Postcard from Morocco in 2008. The same year, she was chosen to sing "Blue Green Beautiful Chlorine" from William Bolcom's A Wedding, during a retirement gala for the composer, with whom she worked closely in preparation for the performance. She will appear as Miss Wordsworth in their Winter 2009 production of Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring. At the University of Michigan, Jennifer has worked closely with Martin Katz, who has coached her in operatic and art song literature.
From 2003-2007 she attended the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Dr. Carolyn Hart. During her time at Wheaton, she was awarded President's Scholarship as well as first place in the Ben Heppner Concerto Competition, the NATS competition, and the Josephine Li Puma Opera Award at the Chicago Cultural Center. She also coached with Richard Boldrey and William Billingham of the Chicago Lyric Opera staff.
During the summers of 2005 and 2006 she was a member of the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, North Carolina where she sang the roles of Frasquita in Carmen and Romilda in Serses. During her time there she worked with David Effron, Steven Smith, James Lesniak, Charles Prestinari, David Gately, Michael Ehrmann, Martha Collins, and Vince Liotta. While singing in this company, she was asked by Maestro David Effron personally to sing the Queen of the Night's second aria from Die Zauberflöte with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra for a concert featuring the works of Mozart.
During the summer of 2008 she travelled to Florence, Italy, where she attended the Florence Voice Seminar. There she was honored to study voice with Sally Wolf and coach with Danielle Orlando. She was also chosen to sing in two competitive masterclasses with Maestro James Conlon and Maestro Marco Balderi.
Jennifer's passion is to be not only a singer, but a singing actress, so that she may effectively transport and entertain an audience through the characters she plays. In that vein, she has utilized acting studies with Joshua Major, Robert Swedberg, Sarah Holman, and Martha Collins.
