Joe Babiak
Drums, Percussion
Joe Babiak began his musical career at the early age of five. He first started with the piano and soon after began the trumpet. Joe played trumpet all throughout his schooling and was the recipient of numerous awards. He was also part of a national youth wind ensemble that performed at Carnegie Hall.
Drumming is an ongoing art form about which Joe is very passionate and constantly strives to improve. Joe has been playing drums since 1994, and because of his previous musical training, drumming came to him very naturally. His strong understanding of theory, keen melodic and harmonic sense, and excellent pitch makes him unique on the instrument. He is well versed in a multitude of styles and has extensive performing, recording, and touring experience with artists/groups such as: Parallel Mind, Michael Angelo Batio, Kill Hannah, South of Earth, Cage9, and many others.
Joe has appeared in Modern Drummer Magazine 5 times and was featured in the Nov. 2006 issue of DRUM! magazine. He endorses Sonor Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Vater Sticks, Protechtor Cases by Gator, Westone in-ear monitors, and beyerdynamic.
Joe's teaching methods are simple, efficient, and extremely effective. He has taught students of all ages, styles, and ability levels. He teaches skills and techniques that are applicable in real life situations: students learn theory fundamentals (such as reading and counting), coordination skills and limb independence, a multitude of drum beats, fills, and different styles of playing, as well as soloing.

Favorite quote about music: ""Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, and life to everything. It is the essence of order, and leads to all that is good, just and beautiful, of which it is the invisible, but nevertheless dazzling, passionate, and eternal form. " -~ Plato
