What You Can Expect From Your Teacher


The Music Room teaching staff encompasses of some of the finest musicians in the Chicagoland area.  These playing and teaching professionals hold music degrees and/or advanced studies from some of the best music schools in the country. You can expect the following from your teacher:


  1. Thorough knowledge and experience

  2. Professional and courteous conduct and appearance

  3. Lessons that begin and end on time

  4. Strong communication skills


It is the goal of teachers at The Music Room to create a valuable music lesson experience for each student by developing their musical skills through a progressive and enjoyable approach.  This goal is achieved by using the following methods:


  1. 1.Developing clear and concise goals, customized for each student. 

  2. 2.Consistently introducing new and progressive skills including but not limited to:  technique, tone quality, music theory, sight-reading, musicianship and music literacy.

  3. 3.Interacting with students during the lesson experience through the use of demonstration, accompaniment and duets.

  4. 4.Incorporating of a wide variety of materials including published sheet music materials and instrumental accessories.

  5. 5.Scheduling regular performance opportunities through recitals, mini concerts or in-store performances.

  6. 6.Communicating and conveying progress regularly with students and parents.


From time to time, your teacher may need to make arrangements for a substitute to teach in their absence.  When and if this happens, you will be notified.  Your teacher will prepare their substitute in advance so that the learning momentum is not interrupted.


In the unlikely event a teacher is unable to complete a  session, or leaves for any reason, another member of our staff will be continue the lessons without interruption.
